The Education Partners at the Google Global Education Symposium
Early this November, CEO Denise Gallucci and CLO Mary Elizabeth Wilson represented the International Education Consultants The Education Partners at Google’s exclusive 5th Annual Global Education Symposium. This “thought leadership event” highlighted global speakers, schools, and Google’s plans to enrich education through technology. The diverse and international group of attendees worked together to brainstorm groundbreaking practices to ensure the continuing union of technology and education.
Keynote speaker Dr. Pak Tee Ng, Associate Dean, Leadership Learning National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, shared his perspective on the success of Singapore’s school system. His book Learning From Singapore: The Power of Paradoxes outlines four key “paradoxes” that have led to these achievements, including Singapore’s new administrative structure: “centralized decentralization.” As Dr. Ng described in a video, this arrangement fosters cohesion as well as originality. “Schools are all aligned with national goals, strategic goals, but each school is technically empowered to design the teaching and learning to suit their students.” According to the most recent PISA test back in 2015, Singapore now ranks at the top in education around the world.
Dr. Ng joined a host of other global education leaders to discuss the intersection of technology and learning. Google’s Global Education Symposium reiterated the ongoing need to leverage transformative technologies in order to strengthen education around the world.
